Louisville hardcore

The next few updates are dedicated to my Ole Kentucky Home's scene. We have amazing bands coming out right now:
Another Mistake
Written Off
Mustangs
Damaged Goods
Skinwalkers
to name a few. Mustangs, Damaged Goods, and Skinwalkers will have their own posts soon. I'm going to go get food.
For now, go download their demos:
Skinwalkers
Written Off
Another Mistake
Mustangs
Damaged Goods doesn't have any recordings yet, I'll keep you updated though.

Written Off

Louisville hardcore is coming around again, finally. This summer has been unlike any scene I've experienced since living here. Shows are happening, good bands are coming out. Yeah we've had bands like Breather Resist, Lords, By the Grace of God, but that was then, this is now. Fuck you if you live in the past and don't check out new bands. Stop pretending to be jaded at 19.

Written Off recorded their demo a few weeks ago! They have a youth crew and Lockin Out Crew sound. It's fun and good. Check our their fanpage on Facebook.
Download their demo HERE

Check out Written Off in a couple weeks in Louisville with Harms Way, Rattletooth, and Mustangs:

Another Mistake

Brand new band from Louisville, KY. Another Mistake just recorded their demo, "Life's Noose." I sincerely believe if you skip over downloading this demo, you are a fucking weiner nerd. They played their first show a couple of weeks ago with Homewrecker and Mad Minds. It was awesome.
Another Mistake is playing their second show in Indianapolis tomorrow at 7pm.
If you live in the area you need to come out. Awesome bands are playing and it's only $5.

Check out their fanpage on Facebook for updates on shows/songs/mosh shit and their blog for lyrics, news, etc.
To get their demo, "Life's Noose" click HERE for fans of Right Brigade, Carry On, Drug Test.
Don't sleep! Tell all your friends!

KEEPERS OF THE FAITH

New Terror song "STICK TIGHT"
I've listened to this song about 30 times. You can download it HERE.

Keepers of the Faith is a new movement started by Scott Vogel of Terror. Basically in remembrance of Raybeez (WARZONE). It's a movement dedicated to hardcore kids who keep hardcore alive. This is me, this is my friends, hopefully you and your friends.
Get into it.

Summer

I've been staying pretty busy between work and hanging out with friends. Jim and I have been working on a zine (Dying for It).
Overall everything is going really well with me. I have outstanding friends who I am so thankful for, a great family, and a wonderful dog. Plus there are so many great hardcore bands coming out and/or putting out new records lately. New Bitter End drops soon, Betrayed released a 7", The Rival Mob preorders are up, Cruel Hand, Fire & Ice.. etc etc.

I guess we're going swimming and grillin at Sam's house.

I also crazy about Jim.

June 4th

Tomorrow Jim and I are going to Indianapolis for:

Lion of Judah
Stick Together
Thought Crusade
Black Breath
GIVE
I am pretttty excited. I haven't seen LOJ since they released "Universal Peace" in '06 and Thought Crusade at Burning Fight and GIVE in DC earlier in the year.. I think I've seen Black Breath but they didn't stick out. Everyone is talking about their new record. I haven't given it a listen yet.. I should. Josh bought me a Stick Together tape when he saw them in Nashville. I like it a lot. Youth crewwww.

I have to be up for work in about 2 hours. I slept from 6:30pm-10:15pm. The smart thing would be to try to sleep for an hour and a half but I will probably make a bad choice..Stay up and drink a lot of coffee all day.

This is Hardcore 2010

It's that time again for THIS IS HARDCORE in Philadelphia. I haven't been since 2006 due to family shit every god damn year. This year, nothing, nothing is stopping me.

The lineup has blown my mind. I wasn't expecting Sheer Terror to be announced and well, they were.

Bought tickets today. I don't know what else to say about this.

Big things...

Well, I've been in Louisville for almost two weeks now. The time spent here so far has been nothing short of spectacular. The only semi-downside is I don't have the internet password at my place and I don't know how to figure it out. Its not been a bad thing. Being away from the computer has given me more time for friends, Sophia, and catching up on reading. (I'm updating via my Blackberry).
The move went well. I finished my last final on Wednesday and had everything packed on Tuesday. I left Thursday morning at 530am. It was hard leaving my Mom but she was very positive about the move. She has continued to be very positive. Sophia and I arrived in Louisville around 930PM (we stopped a lot to just chill and run around).Hanged out with the boys and stayed at Keith's house. I don't remember a lot from that night so I'm sure it was good. Since the first night everyone has been hanging out... Like nonstop hanging out. I haven't been home alone at all except to sleep and even then Dusty has been sleeping over every weekend and Shella this weekend. Its been a great transition... I mean I didn't expect my friends to be so stoked on me being back. I defiantly underestimated them.<3
I want to update more about parties, bands, friends but its hard to think of all the great stuff that's gone on! I have a lot of photos I want to post and bands I want to talk about but that will all have to wait until I have time to get on my laptop.

PRAISE! (pt 2)

A good coreman informed me today that PRAISE put up an online merch store! I love Praise. I love hardcore merch. You should have already PRE ORDERED their 7" coming out on REACT RECORDS, "Changing. Healing" but in case you didn't, you can order it along with three tshirt designs HERE.
Don't sleep on PRAISE! You can lurk them on their own blog .

*this picture is from their show in Baltimore with Cro Mags, Set to Explode, and Killing Time*

I FOUND SOMETHING I THOUGHT I HAD LOST

I swore someone stole my Sheer Terror tape but after searching through some boxes in storage tonight.. YO!
I also found Swamp Thing tape and Beastie Boys tape that I forgot I even had.

Today's been a really good day. My cousin went across the Bay to get her third ultrasound (she's having twins) and my other cousin asked me to watch Ryleigh (her 1 1/2yr old). I love hanging out with Ryleigh. She's so smart and talkative! Not to mention, she has a great sense of humor. We did a lot of fun activities. There were ducklings on our way home from walking the dogs on a trail. That was the highlight of the day for me. She really liked walking Sophia. I let Ryleigh hold her leash while I walked Cambria. It was very cute. We made homemade pizza for dinner and popsicles for dessert. She painted my nails after I painted hers. My nails are now lime green, but not really on my nails at all, mostly on my fingers.
I'm going to be a great mommy. I'm stoked for that day to come in the future.

Kentucky

I'm also moving back to LOUISVILLE! in less then 2 weeks.

I can't even put into words how happy I've been the last two months. Between visiting Louisville, Kelly coming back to Chinco with me for a week, United Blood, deciding to move back to Louisville, doing well in school, getting my job back at The Gardner School...SHIT IS SO TIGHT.
I am MOST excited to see my friends on a daily basis. Fuckin right.

There's a new Southern KY hardcore/metal messageboard. It's entertaining for the most part.

So many good shows are happening in the next few months in Louisville. Hopefully, Louisville hardcore scene will make a comeback (as far as shows go).

I also think I might be going to see RZL DZL in Columbus, OH (if the $$ is right) the day after I move back. If I don't get to go, I still get to see Touche Amore so... WIN WIN WIN WIN.

Saturday 3/6/2010

On Saturday I drove to Baltimore to see CRO MAGS!
Praise opened, they were awesome. Youth crew-esque, fast. I can't find a link for them but I will keep looking and update.
Set to Explode played so well. I was anticipating them the most after Cro Mags. I really like Set to Explode. I get to see them again April 17th in DC!
The Inmates played next. I've never heard this band but the singer seemed pretty pissed off only 10 people knew the words to their songs. I don't know. They sounded good to me.
Killing Time played. I was in the back behind 200 people. I missed a lot of their set because I was stupid drunk. From what I saw, it was awesome.
CRO MAGS! Ugh, words cannot describe how amazing they were. Totally blew me out of the water. I expected songs to be half assed and sloppy, they were not. They covered REGULATORS and I lost my mind.. The set was perfect.
After the show Tony & I ate at Dennys in Dundulk(sp?). It was drunk fuck central and because I was incredibly sober after Killing Time's set, this sucked a lot.
I really like Baltimore. The city is very pretty. I threatened to beat the shit out of some bum if he broke into my car.. "REMEMEBER THIS FACE BECAUSE IF MY SHIT GETS BROKEN INTO, I'M GOING TO BE FINDING YOU AND BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF YOU" The shit I say when I'm drunk dude.
I also met Joanna! She is so cute and sweet. I like her. I saw a lot of people I use to know but don't talk to anymore. It was awkward. I often wonder why people just stop talking to me.. It's usually dudes and it's usually because I'm not going to fuck them.

Mary & Nick let me sleep on their new couch. They are so awesome. Sunday, Mary, Nick, and their friend Brian and I went to eat brunch at Fells Point. We went to a few places. It was so nice outside every things was really crowded. We ended up eating at Koopers. I ate a pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw. It was pretty good! Than we walked around Fells Point for a bit, went to Sound Garden, and stood on a corner and talked for a bit.

I was very excited about going to Celebrated Summer in Towson. Tony finally came to meet me and we went there. I picked up 3 LPs and 1 7"(i'll post about them in a separate entry). I really like that record store. They always have awesome shit and it's priced fairly. If you're ever in the Baltimore, make the 15 minute drive to Towson to check it out.

It was a nice trip. I think the next time I'll be out that way will be for the Mindset record release. What an innnnnnsane show that will be.

October 17th, Richmond Hardcore

Can you believe I was suppose to get married today? Wow, what a weird life that would have been. All I have to say is that I'm really glad I'm single.
Okay, on to what matters: Hardcore

Last night

Dead End Path It was only their 3rd show and they represented Wilkes Barre hardcore really well. They had limited tapes and shirts. Neither of which I got because I couldn't get to the merch tables. Hopefully, they will send me some. You can still download their demo FOR FREE online, right here. Don't sleep on this band. They should be coming back to Richmond in December!

Naysayer had a surprise set because War Hungry was late. Always a pleasure seeing Naysayer. They played like 4 songs. Crowd looked confused because they introduced themselves as War Hungry. They have a 7" out on Reaper. Richmond hardcore is on top.

Bracewar played a good set. I can't remember a bad time I've seen Bracewar though. I think their hype sort of died (not in these parts) but the songs from their new 7" are good. I don't know what the deal is with buying it. I think they said you could pick it up at the show. I thought I saw it at Vinyl Conflict I don't know. I'll see what I can find out about it post something more solid.

Cold World played before Floorpunch. I don't remember the last time I saw Cold World. It hasn't been that long or has it? Either way, I really like their newer stuff, and like Bracewar, they have progressed into a more mature sounding band. It blows my mind that people don't like their stuff after Ice Grills. I think if they heard Dedicated to Babies..first they wouldn't hype on Ice Grillz as much. I don't know if Cold World is still a hype band. I don't think their shirts go for as much nowadays but kids still go nuts and that's all that ever matters.

Floorpunch was good. This was my first time seeing them. They've done a hand full of "reunion" shows for whatever reason. I like Floorpunch. I liked them more when I was straightedge. If would have saw them in 2004/5 I would have been much more stoked. I use to listen to them daily but obviously that faded out. It was still awesome hearing "Washed Up at 18." I remember when I use to get so bummed when my friends sold out. I would listen to Floorpunch, Ten Yard Fight, and Champion.

Overall, great show! I met some new people, saw some faces I haven't seen in awhile, and saw some, dare I say, friends?

Oh, since we all know a lady bitch gotta eat I ate a decent "TAMAL" @ La Bamba (I need to clarify that this La Bamba is NO WHERE as good as La Bamba "Burritos as Big as Your Head" in Louisville).

Book DEAD END PATH in your city, by the way. They want to tour and play as many shows as possible. Email Myspace
mosh.
