Updates from March Madness..

As I'm sitting here enjoying the new Another Mistake tracks on repeat(trying to learn all the words, I mean c'mon, we all do it), I realized I haven't updated this in a bit.
First, I will talk about March.
Then Another Mistake, Written Off, and Damaged Goods because they are my dudes and I love them to death.

Basketball in March brings on a term "March Madness," but hardcore this month is madness. There are so many shows, 2 fests(technically UB is in April but we start for the trip in March.. maybe we should call it Spring Madness..?), and life is just a bit chaotic. Work hasn't even confirmed my request off for United Blood yet..Though I have my tickets, hotel booked, plans made. I don't even want to be around me if my request is denied (THAT I REQUESTED FOR IN JANUARY).

Yesterday was MY FRIENDS THE PIT FEST II. If you live in the Midwest and didn't go, why? That's just goofy. The fest was great fun. Seeing my friends from Chicago, Indy, KC, West VA, and my good ol' Louisville friends was such a highlight. Not to mention every band (ok, not every band) played great sets. No Class and Thought Crusade played! I haven't seen them but I love their records. Their sets were everything I was expecting and a little more. My new pants ripped in the No Class pit when I was taken down by some dudes and stepped on. It's okay because I was drunk and didn't feel it then, today is a different story, ouch! I missed Picked Clean and Urban Blight. I picked up an Urban Blight tape. They need to tour through here again soon. I'll see Picked Clean on the 18th of March with No Class.
Kicked In was sweet enough to ask Written Off to play 2 songs and even cut their set short for them! Sorry Excuse, Noose, Razor Fade, Misled Youth, Forcible Discipline, Wolfsblood, Skrapyard, Dark Ages, and more I'm probably forgetting because I'm an asshole, made the night a blast.
Another Mistake got a great reaction. I love seeing people I don't know go off for them.

This is already too wordy. Buying a new camera seems like a good idea.
Alright, cool.

Louisville hardcore

The next few updates are dedicated to my Ole Kentucky Home's scene. We have amazing bands coming out right now:
Another Mistake
Written Off
Mustangs
Damaged Goods
Skinwalkers
to name a few. Mustangs, Damaged Goods, and Skinwalkers will have their own posts soon. I'm going to go get food.
For now, go download their demos:
Skinwalkers
Written Off
Another Mistake
Mustangs
Damaged Goods doesn't have any recordings yet, I'll keep you updated though.

Written Off

Louisville hardcore is coming around again, finally. This summer has been unlike any scene I've experienced since living here. Shows are happening, good bands are coming out. Yeah we've had bands like Breather Resist, Lords, By the Grace of God, but that was then, this is now. Fuck you if you live in the past and don't check out new bands. Stop pretending to be jaded at 19.

Written Off recorded their demo a few weeks ago! They have a youth crew and Lockin Out Crew sound. It's fun and good. Check our their fanpage on Facebook.
Download their demo HERE

Check out Written Off in a couple weeks in Louisville with Harms Way, Rattletooth, and Mustangs:

Another Mistake

Brand new band from Louisville, KY. Another Mistake just recorded their demo, "Life's Noose." I sincerely believe if you skip over downloading this demo, you are a fucking weiner nerd. They played their first show a couple of weeks ago with Homewrecker and Mad Minds. It was awesome.
Another Mistake is playing their second show in Indianapolis tomorrow at 7pm.
If you live in the area you need to come out. Awesome bands are playing and it's only $5.

Check out their fanpage on Facebook for updates on shows/songs/mosh shit and their blog for lyrics, news, etc.
To get their demo, "Life's Noose" click HERE for fans of Right Brigade, Carry On, Drug Test.
Don't sleep! Tell all your friends!

KEEPERS OF THE FAITH

New Terror song "STICK TIGHT"
I've listened to this song about 30 times. You can download it HERE.

Keepers of the Faith is a new movement started by Scott Vogel of Terror. Basically in remembrance of Raybeez (WARZONE). It's a movement dedicated to hardcore kids who keep hardcore alive. This is me, this is my friends, hopefully you and your friends.
Get into it.

Summer

I've been staying pretty busy between work and hanging out with friends. Jim and I have been working on a zine (Dying for It).
Overall everything is going really well with me. I have outstanding friends who I am so thankful for, a great family, and a wonderful dog. Plus there are so many great hardcore bands coming out and/or putting out new records lately. New Bitter End drops soon, Betrayed released a 7", The Rival Mob preorders are up, Cruel Hand, Fire & Ice.. etc etc.

I guess we're going swimming and grillin at Sam's house.

I also crazy about Jim.

June 4th

Tomorrow Jim and I are going to Indianapolis for:

Lion of Judah
Stick Together
Thought Crusade
Black Breath
GIVE
I am pretttty excited. I haven't seen LOJ since they released "Universal Peace" in '06 and Thought Crusade at Burning Fight and GIVE in DC earlier in the year.. I think I've seen Black Breath but they didn't stick out. Everyone is talking about their new record. I haven't given it a listen yet.. I should. Josh bought me a Stick Together tape when he saw them in Nashville. I like it a lot. Youth crewwww.

I have to be up for work in about 2 hours. I slept from 6:30pm-10:15pm. The smart thing would be to try to sleep for an hour and a half but I will probably make a bad choice..Stay up and drink a lot of coffee all day.

This is Hardcore 2010

It's that time again for THIS IS HARDCORE in Philadelphia. I haven't been since 2006 due to family shit every god damn year. This year, nothing, nothing is stopping me.

The lineup has blown my mind. I wasn't expecting Sheer Terror to be announced and well, they were.

Bought tickets today. I don't know what else to say about this.

First road trip of the summer: St Louis

Saturday May 22nd Josh, Ethan, Jim, and I embarked on a 4 1/2 drive to St Louis to see Foundation and Backtrack play at the Fubar. The drive there was a lot of fun and seem to pass by quickly. We stopped for a nature walk and some hot dogs ..and a lot of potty breaks because I pee a lot.

The show was decent. St Louis is a little weird. Apparently most everyone there was from out of town. Some guy got jumped by a handful of guys...always a good vibe for a first time visit. A handful of people from St Louis talk to me on the internet but didn't say hi but came home and told me they saw me. I hate that. hahaha
I got to see Jimmie, Blake, Kirby, Kyle, and met this guy Drew from Twitter. I also met two cool girls that are moving to Louisville soon! I'm excited. Louisville lacks hardcore girls besides like me, Alex, and Shella.

One band covered No Warning's "Short Fuse." It was fun.
I gave all the opening bands a chance.. None of them sparked my interest.
Backtrack was awesome. Foundation played a short set because of the29549 other bands that were put on the show. 7 bands is way too many!! I enjoyed both sets a lot. Like half the room left after Harms Way, which is a dang shame.

Drive home was nice. Jim and I had some real talk with silly comments from Jtec in the back. We got home around 6:30am and slept until 4pm.
Great trip. I can't wait for the next one! Which is probably...Floorpunch in Philly next month.

Kentucky

I'm also moving back to LOUISVILLE! in less then 2 weeks.

I can't even put into words how happy I've been the last two months. Between visiting Louisville, Kelly coming back to Chinco with me for a week, United Blood, deciding to move back to Louisville, doing well in school, getting my job back at The Gardner School...SHIT IS SO TIGHT.
I am MOST excited to see my friends on a daily basis. Fuckin right.

There's a new Southern KY hardcore/metal messageboard. It's entertaining for the most part.

So many good shows are happening in the next few months in Louisville. Hopefully, Louisville hardcore scene will make a comeback (as far as shows go).

I also think I might be going to see RZL DZL in Columbus, OH (if the $$ is right) the day after I move back. If I don't get to go, I still get to see Touche Amore so... WIN WIN WIN WIN.
