"to own and control try our best to possess, but why? LET GO"

July 31

Last night @ Chestnut I saw Cornered. I've been jamming their demo for about a year now and had no idea they were doing stuff until Alex & Tyler brought them to the house. Their set was fucking perfect. I picked up their 7". I missed Cheap Thrills set. Another Mistake has played better sets. New Morality was cool. I've never seen them before. They offered to cover Warzone but covered Crown of Thorns instead. That bummed me out.
Take Offense was awesome. Pit was very violent. I stayed in a corner and covered my head most of their set, hahaha. They played the house not too long ago. I think this set was better. I watched a few songs form Downpresser until Tyler got hurt and I went to tend to him. What I watched was cool. Never disappointed seeing Downpresser.
After the show, Alex and Josh brought out a lot, A LOT, of fireworks. It was pretty cool.
The show was a great time. Ate some Taco Bell after the show with Jim & watched True Blood.

I CANT FUCKING BELIEVE IT'S AUGUST.

war hungry s/t

I've been slacking on listening to new music lately. With only my iPhone to put music on, I sort of have to limit what I listen to when I'm not at home.
I downloaded the new War Hungry s/t LP. It's good. I've always loved War Hungry and thought maybe they would stop putting out material because Stick Together blew up..happy that didn't happen. You should check it out, download
I've only listened to it once but I like it.

Written Off, Razor Fade, Face Reality, & Stick Together Indy 7/13/11

On Wednesday, Josh, Tyler, Ethan, and I went to Indy to see Stick Together, Face Reality, RazorXFade, and Written Off. We stopped at the Nike outlet on the way up there but only Tyler bought shoes because he likes purple shoes.
Written Off covered Alone In A Crowd. The rest of the set Chris' vocals were out but the rest of the band played really well. Picked up a Written Off shirt and an Iron Mind Crew shirt.
Razor Fade covered SSD and Chain of Strength. It was one of their last shows for awhile because Carlos is going to San Diego. I love seeing Razor Fade. Not only are they an awesome band, they are really nice guys.
Face Reality covered Youth of Today. It was perfect. I saw them at 10/10/10 in Chicago last year but this set was so much better. Their new stuff is great and I can't wait for the new record. They also covered Straight Ahead. I didn't know it. I picked up a shirt.
Stick Together covered Breakdown. I love Breakdown. I love Stick Together. Their new shit is awesome too. I picked up a tape with their new stuff on it.
The show was fun. After the show, we were trying to leave and Jim's car wouldn't start. Every one already left except Razor Fade. They stayed after to dick around with the car with us until we called AAA to tow it to the dealer in Indy. Luckily, my future sister in law let us stay with her and her boyfriend. We woke up and Jim's momma picked us up and took us out to The Roost for pork tenderloins. I really liked hanging out with Jim's Mom. She is like my second mom. We got the car later in the day and headed back to Louisville. It was a fun trip despite the car troubles.

I'll post some pictures of the merch I picked up eventually.

In nonhardcore related news, I really like that Tyler, the Creator song feat Frank Ocean "She." I feel like such a turd for liking it so much.

Lately mosh

My fucking ipod was stolen out of Jim's car. Riding in the car sucks because I haven't put anything on my iphone. And i've had that ipod since I turned 18 (Im now 24). it has EVERYTHING on it. Everything i've ever listened to.. really fucking sucks. Anyway- this is what i'm listening to right now. I called in to work because everything sucks and cramps suck. I don't care.

From the roof to the alley..

Damaged Goods dropped their demo about a month ago. I can't think of anyone to compare them too. Just check out and for yourself: Demo 2011

how bored does every one look?

April 23rd @ Ear X Tacy- Late Ones, Another Mistake

Local pop punk favorites Late Ones(FFO Kid Dynamite, The Movielife) are playing Ear X Tacy with Louisville's own hardcore superstars (I kid, I kid) Another Mistake. It's fucking FREE and on a Saturday night. There is no reason to miss this. You'll be able to pick up records while you're there too. Shows at record stores make me feel gooey and warm inside.
ROOTS! YOUTH!

Damaged Goods

Damaged Goods recently recorded new material. Recently, last Wednesday. I haven't heard them yet but I am impatiently waiting to get a sneak peak of a lil suntin suntin.

Damaged Goods played with Rattletooth at our local record store, Ear X Tacy. They've recently started doing like showcases for local bands. This was the flier Byan Volz made. It's so tight I have to post it:

I hope to be able to post a demo soon but until then here is there old demo .
Damaged Goods is going on tour with Another Mistake and Written Off. Hitting Kansas City, Springfield IL, and Grand Rapids MI April 15-16. Tour kicks off with a show at home w/Damaged Goods, Another Mistake, Aggress, and 1 TBA. Written Off had to drop off because Chris has a real man job.

Another Mistake 2011

Another Mistake released 3 out of their 6 new songs for a 2011 demo. You can download it here.

They just played My Friends the Pit II in Indianapolis, IN yesterday. It was a great time. Most of the fest was recorded thanks to AJ! Megan Reeves took photos too. I will post those as soon as I get my hands on them.

FFO: Carry On, American Nightmare, Right Brigade.

Another Mistake is playing fucking KRAZY FEST. They are opening Saturday. If you have some extra $$ and love Hot Water Music, Cave In, 7 Seconds, Title Fight, etc You should AT LEAST try to come Saturday to see Another Mistake. I know I'll be there Saturday and Sunday for Another Mistake and SAMIAM!!!!

Another Mistake also has a new limited shirt design. You can probably pick it up tonight on Living Touch webstore.

April 15-17 we're all going on tour. Another Mistake, Written Off, and Damaged goods are heading to Kansas City, Springfield IL, and Grand Rapids MI. Should be a blast. I hope people go lose their shit.

Written Off Louisville hardcore

Written Off put out a new demo. I think I talked about it when it was put out but I honestly don't remember. You can download it from their bandcamp page by clicking here. I highly recommend you check them out if you're still in the dark.
Written Off is playing Cleveland on May 20th at The Kids Will Have Their Fest. It's day one of Krazy Fest(YESOMFGKFISBACK) but I love Written Off and I wouldn't miss their first fest for the world. There isn't a flier for this fest yet but you can see the lineup on the Louisvilleboard. ENOUGH, SORRY EXCUSE, RAZORFADE, STAND FOR! You should be going.
Written Off is also going on tour with Another Mistake and Damaged goods in April (15-17) Hitting Kansas City, Springfield, and Grand Rapids.

Updates from March Madness..

As I'm sitting here enjoying the new Another Mistake tracks on repeat(trying to learn all the words, I mean c'mon, we all do it), I realized I haven't updated this in a bit.
First, I will talk about March.
Then Another Mistake, Written Off, and Damaged Goods because they are my dudes and I love them to death.

Basketball in March brings on a term "March Madness," but hardcore this month is madness. There are so many shows, 2 fests(technically UB is in April but we start for the trip in March.. maybe we should call it Spring Madness..?), and life is just a bit chaotic. Work hasn't even confirmed my request off for United Blood yet..Though I have my tickets, hotel booked, plans made. I don't even want to be around me if my request is denied (THAT I REQUESTED FOR IN JANUARY).

Yesterday was MY FRIENDS THE PIT FEST II. If you live in the Midwest and didn't go, why? That's just goofy. The fest was great fun. Seeing my friends from Chicago, Indy, KC, West VA, and my good ol' Louisville friends was such a highlight. Not to mention every band (ok, not every band) played great sets. No Class and Thought Crusade played! I haven't seen them but I love their records. Their sets were everything I was expecting and a little more. My new pants ripped in the No Class pit when I was taken down by some dudes and stepped on. It's okay because I was drunk and didn't feel it then, today is a different story, ouch! I missed Picked Clean and Urban Blight. I picked up an Urban Blight tape. They need to tour through here again soon. I'll see Picked Clean on the 18th of March with No Class.
Kicked In was sweet enough to ask Written Off to play 2 songs and even cut their set short for them! Sorry Excuse, Noose, Razor Fade, Misled Youth, Forcible Discipline, Wolfsblood, Skrapyard, Dark Ages, and more I'm probably forgetting because I'm an asshole, made the night a blast.
Another Mistake got a great reaction. I love seeing people I don't know go off for them.

This is already too wordy. Buying a new camera seems like a good idea.
Alright, cool.

Stand For

*Random Lockin Out photo

Well, Lockin Out has blown up once again but these dudes have been doing this shit for a couple of years.. Remember Brink? Yeah, the movie too, but this band from Michigan recorded a demo that rules but sounds like shit. I guess they are still a band, I'm not sure. Either way, members of Brink and Face Reality started a band called STAND FOR.
I just heard them demo. Straight up, Mental+Crunch Time+Righteous Jams came inside the womb of Lockin Out to present you with Stand For.
Now, they aren't on Lockin Out but you would never know that.
Download this demo. Run around your room like an idiot and do the mosh thing.

Egypt

How nutty! Thousands of people protesting on the streets! Follow the story here:
Al Jazeera English
What's Happening in Egypt?
From the website linked above:
UPDATE 39, 5:30 p.m. EST: Mubarak is speaking now. Important note: It's a recorded speech, and we don't know when it was recorded. The speech, as The Atlantic's Max Fisher wrote, is "just breathtakingly obvlivious and dishonest." Mubarak doesn't sound like he's leaving. Instead, he's trying to align himself with the protesters, against the rest of his government. He said he will "continue our political, economic, and social reforms for a free and democratic Egyptian society," but he didn't set a date for free elections. Like Ben Ali before him, Mubarak noted that he "dedicated his life" to his country. "Yes," says Al Jazeera's Dima Khatib, "presidency for life." Mubarak says he has asked the government to resign—everyone but him, that is. My favorite comment is from Ali Abunimah: "My dad listening to Mubarak: 'This is what the Americans call bullshit.'"

President Mubarak indicates he will disbar his government but will not step down himself, which is what protesters are calling for. This seems a little ridiculous. Clearly, Egyptian people are not happy with the political leaders that are appointed now. They are plagued with poverty, police brutality, and unemployment.

Look what came in the mail today..

Count Me Out "Permanent" shirt came in the mail today! I got it on Ebay for $6.

Updates..

or lack there of. I finally got wireless and seemed to just do a lot of nothing when I get online. I have a lot of new bands, shows, and cool shit going that I want to talk about.

Let's start with Best Coast. Jim introduced me to this cutesy surf rock band that I just fell in love with. I'm sure everyone has already heard them because they are on some Top 50 Rolling Stones shit. Either way, get your hands on some of their material.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

The most frustrating thing about dating some one who is interested in the same things you are interested in (IE: HARDCORE) is that only one of your opinions can be right.
Any time I say a band reminds me of or sounds like another band, Jim has to make this huge deal out of how he doesn't agree and how wrong I am. It's so annoying.

Also, I don't understand how kids that are just getting into hardcore learn all the words to every song on every lp, ep, demo, blah blah blah.

Most days I feel sort of old and bitter and jaded. I never want to feel like this.

I'm just grumpy.

Think I Care

I guess Think I Care is the new go to cool band to get hyped about after they broke up and few people gave a shit then.
Fortunately, I've been moshing to Mongrel since what 05? and am well prepared for a Think I Care reunion.
Oh, it happened already?

Fuck me, right?
