Please tell me I'm dreaming..
December 17th was a blast! I wanted to do a run down of all the bands sooner so I wouldn't forget but I forgot to get on here and do it. It's not even been a week, let's see if my busted old brain can remember everything.
(OKAY, so it's been almost a month since I started this post, I'm going to finish it now Jan 4, 2011)
Louisville Hardcore Presents...@ Skully Alley December 17th, 2010.
Overrule- For not practicing since their last show, they sounded awesome. They played the whole demo, minus "Keep Your 2 Cents." Covered Hatebreed's "LAST BREATH." I think they played a great set. Chris Miles wasn't there to mosh the entire time, that sucked.
Skinwalkers- Played their new shit, which is tight. They have gotten so better since the first time I saw them @ Keswick.
Overseer- I like this band's demo quite a bit when I heard it.. Seeing them play was... disappointing? The music was awesome. Something about the singer threw me off a bit. I still like them and want to see them again.
Damaged Goods- Covered my favorite Mental song..Bounce Back! It was perfect. I love them so much for that. Sounded on point and played new songs. A+ pit.
Another Mistake- something was off about their entire set. Keith's guitar was out of tune or something and Jim was fucked up and playing poorly for a minute. I don't think any one really noticed. A lot of kids went off for them. They played a couple new-er songs and they got good reaction. Errybody love Another Mistake. There's 20 second video that shows it.
Written Off- I think they get better every time they play. They covered Mental intro and I think something else, I don't remember. Played a few new songs that ruled, great set.
There was a fight during their set! Now I really don't think that's cool anything but it was hilarious.
Picked Clean- I like Picked Clean a lot. Someone threw like 6 of their tapes on the ground, and lucky for Scott, Jim and I picked up all of them to one day pawn off when their 7" on SFU goes big on Ebay. I enjoyed their stupid mosh set.
Sorry Excuse- I fear for my life during this band. Antonio is a giant man and likes to stage dive and run off stage. MIDWEST WOLFPACK GOOOOOOOO. Okay, and, they covered Infest, which is tight. What is even cooler is that kids went NUTS for Sorry Excuse. Oh, and Stop and Think.
Razor Fade- Love Razor Fade. I adore these guys. They are so sweet and fun. One day I will sit down with my RxF tape and learn all the words to this demo. Carlos is just too damn sweet to sound so angry. Everyone loved Razor Fade.
Kicked In- I most anticipated seeing Kicked In again. I love their demo. With no surprise they were fucking awesome. Covered Righteous Jams. Ummmm, perfect set/mosh/etc etc
Mustangs- Ethan has mono. He suffered through a set. Sound was awesome. I love watching Mustangs. I wish Zuko could come to shows.
Alright, two more to go...
Let's be honest, I didn't watch Harms Way. Why? Because I read an interview in Vitalo's zine "Down to the Felt" with the singer of HW and it has turned me off to them completely. He sounds like such a dickhead jock douchebag. Not to mention talks shit on hardcore, and midwest hardcore at that. I hated reading every second of that interview. He brags about being a gym teacher and picking on nerds again, "smear the queer." Whatever
Weekend Nachos- I didn't watch them either but I do like WN. I felt like shit, tired hungry (worked all day) and just was ready to go. I did enjoy what I saw of them (one/two songs heard the whole set from the entry room)
The entire night was a lot of fun. I haven't seen a lot of my Chicago or Indy friends in a bit. The show also did so well. It was one of Skull Alley's last shows (RIP). Jamiee Prott is a great man. He did a lot for Louisville's underground music scene in the last 5 years at Skully Alley, and even before SA but with shows at his house.
Bryan V and Ryan T took photos at the show. They both have Flickr's but are assholes and won't let me ruin their copyright shits to post them on my blog any more. So here are some links:

Bryan V
Peace!
Jim is going behind me and correcting everything I already typed. He needs to make his own blog and let mine be a stupid incorrect piece of internet hardcore misinfomation.
I also hate Jim.

Overrule
Have you downloaded the Overrule demo yet? You're in luck! The demo is still up for download.
You can check download it here
They also played their first out of town show in Indianapolis on November 5. It was awesome. Here is a video from that show:
OVER RULE @ THE DOJO 11/5/2010 from Andrew Graninger on Vimeo.
Please take 4 minutes to download the demo. It rules. For fans of Hatebreed and moshing.
No Class
No Class recently had their record release show, well in early November. Jim and I really wanted to go but finacially it just wasn't a good idea. I didn't get a record. They are playing Indy January 1st. Picking up one then for sure.
The new record is great. They recorded songs and have new ones. The new songs are awesome. It's a great recording. Since their demo tape their sound has matured a lot.
You should check out No Class. Download their new LP here.
Crowbar "Cemetery Angels"
Crowbar put out a new song a few days ago. I finally got around to downloading it and listening to it. At first, it was pretty cool. By the end of the song, I got bored. The breakdown at the end lasts for like a minute and is just too drudgy.. I can't get behind it. Self-titled is my shit. They are playing Crowbar in a week and a half and I wish I could go so badly..but being jobless prevents this.
Check out the new song, here .
Another Mistake photos by Steadfast Media
Another Mistake played that Travisfest in Nashville about a week ago. It went pretty well. I sold a shirt to a very young little dude.
Here are some photos Heather Vaught took (Steadfast Media)
The first photo was taken by another person. I'm not sure who right now. Shella did Chris' guest vocals :)
Living Touch...overthrown
Shella, Jim, and I have decided to take it upon ourselves to put out the Living Touch Louisville HC comp. Keith has decided he doesn't want to do it any more. Hopefully by the end of December or early January we will have it put out.
Bands that will be features on the comp:
Another Mistake
Mustangs
Written Off
Overrule
Skinwalkers
Damaged Goods
Xerxes

ENOUGH is a straightedge youth crew-esque band from Nashville. They recently put out a bangin demo. I'm on my phone right now and can't link it(I will, stay calm). If you haven't heard this demo, you need to google "enough nashville straightedge mediafire" or something similiar.
Another Mistake is playing "Travisfest"(link soon) in Nashville November 20, 2010. Hysteria is playing also(link soon). Apparently its a pretty big fest in memory of someone passing away. 400 or more kids come out to this Christian ran "venue" (Rockettown) and listen to metalcore bands. I'm very excited that Another Mistake gets to play further south and a bunch of people (regardless of the shitty music they currently enjoy) get to hear/see them. Hysteria rules. I've only seen them once (@Chestnut House) and they played an awesome set. Bobby's vocals remind me of George from Blacklisted. Their music is heavy and doomy, think Integrity meets Crowbar and they had a threesome with like Most Precious Blood(Jim said MPB, I don't listen to them enough to know that).
This is really text heavy but I don't update enough. We steal internet from someone in our neighborhood. It's really shotty and never works long enough to post an update.
The I65 Showcase was a banger. I think Scott said 120+ kids paid (for a venue that is only suppose to hold 40).
I want to talk more about the show and I will but Jim is playing me songs on his guitar and I'm very in to this.

It's been a minute..
Life has changed drastically in the past month. Gardner School fired me for being sick too much(first time I've ever been fired from a job), lost my job at Zappos because I couldn't take crutches in the warehouse, Jim quit his job, traveled to Chicago and enjoyed a Chicago dog for the first time, America's Hardcore Compilation finally dropped, saw Agnostic Front in one of my best friend's living room, sprained my left foot so badly it's still swollen almost a month later.. What else? No Class dropped new songs on Deranged Records website, and they are so good. Another Mistake, and Written Off sold out of their 30 press of tapes. Overrule just recorded their demo- DOWNLOAD IT! Mustangs and Skinwalkers recorded new material, both bands are great. I really suggest you check them out. They are all young kids doing big things for our scene.
Big show in Indianapolis is happening on Friday. RazorxFade, Picked Clean, Misled Youth, Written Off, Overrule, Damaged Goods, CleanxSlate.. @ the Dojo. Basically, wolfpack I-65 showcase. This show will rule. I will post the flier soon. Sitting in the floor trying to steal internet connection isn't working so well for me.

Reiterater
Written Off posted a new song a couple weeks ago for the Living Touch Records Louisville Compilation. You can listen to it on their Facebook Fanpage. The new song is real tight. I think the sound is a bit different from the demo but it still rules.
Don't forget, you can also download their demo, too!
Written Off also has a video from the show on Sunday! Check it out! This was their best set to date.

Lisa Vanin
Recently came across Lisa Vanin's art blog..Wow! I love her work. You should check her out. Her work is beautiful. Our walls need her art on them asap.
"Forever homeward bound"
Our house!
When I first moved back to Indiaucky I lived with my Grandfather in Jeffersonville, IN. In July, Shella and I signed a lease for our house in Lousville. Jim recently moved in and we're one big happy family...ha
I like our house a lot. It's not really hardcore related except the constant mosh that happens in the hallways.
This is our house!
I told you long ago, now you're..forever fucked.
Depression.. Is there a band I miss more? I think not. Their self titled EP is one of my favorites, ever. Heavy, mean, angry hardcore. I saw them in Richmond at Alley Katz in 2005 with Iron Boots, and Bracewar. Being the one of 3 people who knew the words, I felt sort of awkward at first but when they played "Ghost of Cabbagetown" I let my inhibitions fade away. Their set was great. Depression was scheduled to play Richmond again a few months later but they canceled last minute, then broke up.
Truth be told, I once blocked my number and left a 5 minute voicemail on the singer's phone asking him to do a reunion. Somehow he got my number and called me back and said "Never gonna happen." That's a big bummer. One of their guitar players always told me he would be down for a reunion though. Maybe I can just do vocals, hahahahaha.
If you've never heard Depression and want to listen check our their Myspace. I would upload their s/t but the internet connection here is shit. I will probably end up doing it and it will take 4 hours. We'll see, either way, listen, mosh in your room/car, enjoy.
Sunday September 26th @ The Chestnut House
Tomorrow Jim comes home from his mini weekend tour with Misled Youth and RazorxFade.
This is happening!
Every band playing the show is tight. All Midwest bands because Midwest, at the moment, is doing it best.

I'm lonely on a Saturday night. Jim's on tour and it seems like everyone else has plans or sorta kinda has bailed.
Naps during the day kill my sleep patterns.
Expect some [cool] updates.

Recent thought..
Saturday night Jim invited our friend AJ over. He brought his friend, some guy who filmed the show. He looked older, I figured he was an older guy who "use" to be "into" hardcore.
As the night carried on, we watched the Another Mistake set from that night. The guy made dumb commentary "why is punching the air so cool?" "hardcore dancing is stupid" "straightedge is outdated" "hardcore is outdated" "I use to like hardcore then I grew up" type of shit. I asked him how old he was, 23. Twenty fucking three talking like he was some 30 year old wash up, hasbeen, but no.
Upon further investigation, the only "hardcore" bands he could name and said he was interested in were Breather Resist, and Black Cross. I just had to walk away at this point. I know people are entitled to their opinions, and I should respect them no matter how ignorant they sound to me. How are you going to come into someone's house and insult everything they love and live for? I realize he probably didn't know what he was talking about but the simple fact that he had no filter, no tact, just continued to bash "hardcore" and talk about how stupid straightedge is. I love hardcore. I love the straightedge.
I don't mean any hard feelings towards this guy, but I'm 23. I don't find myself saying shit like "outdated." I haven't been alive that long to make those sort of judgments. He really frustrated me. When someone talks badly about something they know little to nothing about it's irritating. It's cool to have an opinion but have a little knowledge of the topic.

He says he plans on putting out a Louisville Hardcore comp tape with a handful of great bands from our area. So far, Written Off, Another Mistake, Mustangs, Skinwalkers, Rattletooth, and Damaged Goods are going to be on it.
Head over to Living Touch bigcartel to pick up Written Off and Another Mistake demos. You can get them both for $9. You can download their demos online, Written Off and Another Mistake.
Louisville Show Calendar for September!
Thanks to Louisville Hardcore Board for the calendar.
Hysteria
My friend Bobby recently joined a band called Hysteria. They are from Nashville, TN.
They played here Saturday night with Another Mistake, Written Off, Damaged Goods, Skinwalkers, and Agitator. Their set was very good. I was/am really into Bobby's old band, I Need Closure. Heavy, dark, doomy. I feel like Hysteria embodies all these qualities too. Bobby is a crazy front man. His bandmates play very well. I'm not sure what they sounded like before he entered, but I am impressed with the music. All the guys in the band are very nice and funny.
You should check out their demo, This is Not the Place I'm Supposed to Be. They have a fanpage on Facebook, if you're in to liking cool bands, Hysteria.
Here's their blog with lyrics to their demo and show info: BLOG! Don't sleep. Download their demo, go see they play, mosh, buy a shirt, be active.
I am not always right, but I understand one thing: I've screamed for 26 years and it got me nothing.

Ryan Tassi
Downpresser
I met this really nice kid, Ryan Tassi, about a month or two ago. He is such a genuine good hearted person (which is few and far between). He's been demonstrating his [photography] style at shows lately. He is such a great photographer. If you're into film photography, show photos, friend photos, photos of normal objects that look awesome, you should check out his Flickr.

Written Off
Louisville hardcore is coming around again, finally. This summer has been unlike any scene I've experienced since living here. Shows are happening, good bands are coming out. Yeah we've had bands like Breather Resist, Lords, By the Grace of God, but that was then, this is now. Fuck you if you live in the past and don't check out new bands. Stop pretending to be jaded at 19.
Written Off recorded their demo a few weeks ago! They have a youth crew and Lockin Out Crew sound. It's fun and good. Check our their fanpage on Facebook.

Another Mistake
Brand new band from Louisville, KY. Another Mistake just recorded their demo, "Life's Noose." I sincerely believe if you skip over downloading this demo, you are a fucking weiner nerd. They played their first show a couple of weeks ago with Homewrecker and Mad Minds. It was awesome.
Another Mistake is playing their second show in Indianapolis tomorrow at 7pm.
If you live in the area you need to come out. Awesome bands are playing and it's only $5.
Check out their fanpage on Facebook for updates on shows/songs/mosh shit and their blog for lyrics, news, etc.
